Joe Hartlaub was born on September 11, 1951 (yes, really), and resides in Westerville, OH, a suburb of Columbus. He is married to the lovely and patient Lisa, a special education teacher, and has four children (two sons ages 26 and 23, two daughters ages 16 and 4) whom he is able to embarrass just by virtue of his existence. Joe is an attorney specializing in music and publishing law, and reviews books and CDs in his spare time (ha ha). Previous jobs which he is free to discuss includes employment as a federal staff attorney, claims representative, record store clerk, disc jockey, and road crew laborer. Leisure time activities include reading (primarily mystery and suspense books, and he still indulges his lifelong passion for comic books), listening to music (everything from punk to country to Latin rap), and visiting websites that one does not acknowledge when in polite company.
Joe is in private law practice, specializing in the field of entertainment law. He represents musicians, songwriters, and authors on a variety of matters including agency, agreements, and negotiations.
He is also the music editor for SavvyInsider.com.
