Writer Submission Guidelines

INVITATION

SavvyInsider.com, the hip new lifestyle web magazine for savvy singles, cordially invites insightful writers to contribute articles that will engage, inform, advise, stimulate, amuse, challenge, tantalize and/or entertain our intelligent, culturally-aware audience.

We're looking for articles, photography, interviews, analyses and reviews with a broad, national focus that define the times for single adults. Think The New Yorker, um, er, perhaps The New Yorker meets Mad Magazine meets Gawker meets Forbes ... however, specifically devoted to singles who lead full and expressive lives.

Review current articles and the categories to better understand our editorial content. Some articles will relate exclusively to the single lifestyle (insurance advice for singles), while others will simply be relevant to the world in which they live (after all, an expose on terrorism affects everyone).

We're open to all ideas, as long as the writing is sharp (without being vitriolic spew). No personal essays or horoscopes, please. Forget the usual sappy singles drivel and think outside the box. We seek hard-hitting journalism that involves a modicum of reporting -- not the personal story of one's own life. We like to bend the rules, so feel free to go for a bit of saucy wit, provocative sarcasm, subversive irony, or an unusual and clever way of looking at something that's been covered before.

If you're a professional writer, you know the drill. If not, your personal interest or expertise on a topic will guide the way. We rely on your creative juices to hone in on the news and decide what to tackle.

Articles are generally between 500-1000 words in length. There is no maximum word length but if it gets really long, you might want to consider finding a book agent and making the most of it.

SavvyInsider.com reserves the right (though we rarely use it) to edit any submission for language, clarity, grammar, length, appropriate content and demographic appeal.

PAYMENT REARS ITS UGLY HEAD

As a struggling startup winging its way onto the playing field, SavvyInsider.com can't provide monetary compensation at this time -- just the warm feeling of seeing your name in print and our marketing efforts to get you and/or your company in front of a large, influential audience. (Check out current writer bios on the site.) Rest assured, as soon as venture capitalists fall madly in love with the business model and start pouring millions into this baby, we will gladly pay actual currency. In US dollars. Unless the exchange rate changes, then you can opt for Euro, Yen or Pounds.

REGULAR EDITORS AND WRITERS NEEDED

We could use all the help we can get. If you're interested in being an editor, regular columnist or feature writer, please send samples of your past writing, your work experience, and outline how you can contribute to SavvyInsider.com.
